Edwin Nakakura – Associate Pastor

Edwin NakakuraPastor Edwin has been with our fellowship since 1996 and is well known on the island for his genuine aloha spirit and undershepherd’s heart.  Throughout the week, he checks in with others, prays for them and they are mutually encouraged.  He enjoys serving people in a variety of practical ways.  Recognizing God’s calling, Crossroads leadership ordained Edwin as an elder in 2013, .   Gifted also in the area of helps, Pastor Edwin does many things behind the scenes to maintain the facility:  setting up for Saturday night service, cleaning, taking away trash and repairing things.

Originally born and raised on Oahu, Edwin graduated from Honolulu Community College.  As he began searching for greater purpose and meaning in life, he felt God telling him to read the Bible to know Jesus.   He did that and committed his life to Christ in 1978.  In 1982 he went to “Youth With A Mission” (YWAM) in Kona and in 1984, he did another season with YWAM in Hong Kong, Thailand and India.  God blessed Edwin with a heart to evangelize and travel, allowing him to take many mission trips to other nations over the years.  In 1986 Edwin moved to Kaua’i where he works in the hotel industry and ministers to people throughout the week.

Pastor Edwin’s life verse is Matthew 6:33: “Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and everything shall be added unto you”.  Edwin enjoys the daily divine appointments God brings, surfing, living the abundant life, belonging to God and knowing that one day God will come back for him and all the others who have received Jesus as their Savior and Lord.  The new Heaven and new Earth is something Pastor Edwin looks forward to!
